Information we collect
- SMS and MMS content. Processed on your device to classify messages and display them in Primary or Spam.
- Contact information. Used locally to identify known senders. Contact access is optional and used only on-device.
- Purchase information. Subscription status is managed by Google Play Billing. The app keeps only a local flag saying whether Premium is active.
How we use information
TextMoat uses that information to classify incoming messages as Primary or Spam, to send notifications only for Primary messages, and to provide messaging features: send, receive, and reply.
We do not sell your SMS data. We do not use your messages for advertising.
Data storage
Messages and classification metadata are stored locally on your device and are not uploaded to our servers. TextMoat does not sync your allowlist or message content anywhere. Picture messages are sent and downloaded through your mobile carrier's MMS service, as with any SMS app.
Third parties
- Google Play Billing handles subscription purchases and status. Google Play also handles distribution.
- No analytics or ad networks are included in TextMoat.
Your choices
- Move messages between Primary and Spam.
- Approve a sender by marking a Spam thread “Not spam,” and manage blocked numbers and keywords in Settings.
- Cancel your subscription via Google Play subscriptions.
- Uninstall the app or change your default SMS app at any time.
Permissions
TextMoat requests SMS, contacts, and notification permissions to provide core messaging and spam filtering, and phone-number permissions to recognize your own number in group messages. SMS permissions are active only while TextMoat is your default SMS app.

Changes
We may update this policy. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance.
